The Ref. 40 steel carabiner undergoes normative strength tests before being put on the market. The 25 kN strength is the minimum guaranteed force according to the EN 362 compliant standard. Yes. The Ref. 40 carabiner bears the CE marking and complies with the EN 362 compliant standard as well as EU Regulation 2016/425. These certifications are mandatory for Category III PPE (protection against fatal risks).
What is the maximum permissible impact force with this carabiner?
The nominal strength of the Ref. 40 is 25 kN. When used with an energy absorber (EN 355), the impact force transmitted to the body is limited to a maximum of 6 kN. SASSI recommends using this carabiner with a complete fall arrest system compliant with EN 363.
What is the regulatory lifespan of a PPE carabiner?
Fall arrest PPE must be inspected annually by a competent person and replaced according to the manufacturer's instructions (generally a maximum of 10 years, or immediately after a fall). Any PPE that has been subjected to a fall must be removed from service and inspected before reuse.
